WE HAVE LIMITED FOCUS
I just finished recording a 9 minute video of me speaking in English. While i was doing it the concept of limited focus came to my mind. Then i started thinking about the return of investment on this habit.
I was honest with myself and just said ,this habit doesn't do much in terms of ROI , because i really want to improve my accent , pronunciation, clarity while speaking, I would have to talk loudly that i usually do and follow the advice of VINH GIANG (great vocal coach) in which he says i have to over pronounce each word while reading a book for 5 minutes so i can learn the English mouth movements.
Now , i don't really like to do this exercise while living in a room in a building cause i fear of being weird and that's the main reason i don't do it.
I did it for a few days after i started thinking i am being weird and i quit, Because while doing it i don't like my room cause i get super self conscious and think about people who might be going upwards on stairs cause i live on the ground floor.
I know this shouldn't be a problem and i should just man the fuck up and focus on my growth instead of being a little bitch but i also realised that i have picked up a bunch of habits and it's not the time which bothers me but the willpower to start these habits everyday.
When i came from gym today i knew i had to cook dinner (chicken +rice) after that i have to drink whey protein , Throw the trash in the dumpster , receive a package from flipkart , order water bottle , record a 5 min video , write a blog , clean the pressure cooker before you eat the dinner etc.
Now these tasks are small and can be done but i am a undisciplined person right now similar to a guy who has been going to the gym just for a few months.
Its better to focus on improving one thing at a time rather becoming Arnold , Alex Pereira in just a few months. Similarly rather than doing all these habits of going to gym , eat the right thing ,record a video , write a blog , I need to find a habit that pushes me to goal.
And the good thing is i don't need to leave all these habits
- Going to gym is great cause it helps me mentally and physically
- Eating chicken and rice in great cause it doesn't cause bloating or any other issue
- Writing a blog is great cause it helps me with articulation and writing brings joy to me.
- recording a 5 min video is the one i think i should leave cause it doesn't do anything substantial to my life right now.
If i switch this habit with studying 2 hours with deep work and mark it daily on a 30 days challenge like i do with the speaking English habit i would be so much better cause i would actually be taking action towards my ultimate goal of studying 8 hours everyday.
